CNC Seating Bucks and Autodesk VRED 2022.2

Automotive development is increasingly taking place in Virtual Reality (VR). Computer Aided Virtual Environments (CAVE) or VR-Headsets are commonly being used for early checks of ergonomic concepts. Engineers use VR for measurements, surveys and monitoring the development process of new vehicle concepts.
nVIZ’ Ergonomics Plugin for VRED allows developers to simulate all driver perspectives from the driver’s seat, from small to tall drivers, by touch on a tablet and immediately make comparisons with the predecessor or competitor vehicle.
The ergonomics plugin ensures that test drivers are always seated at exactly the correct seat reference point in every vehicle. This is essential for collecting reliable data and subjective impressions when questioning multiple test drivers to identify critical aspects of the interior design.
The direct import of ergonomics data into the VRED scene, from the OEM’s data-management system, makes it extremely efficient to interview a large number of test drivers about different features of the future vehicle.
With the latest release 2021.4 of our ergonomics plugin, we have also completely integrated our Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Seating Buck to ensure the precise synchronization of the physical seating position with the virtual scene when switching between different vehicles or making adjustments to the driver’s seat or steering position. The CNC Seating Buck is designed to cover all driver’s seat and steering positions of an AOEM vehicle fleet, from sports car to SUV.

Gap and flush simulation data is imported directly from CAD Design and 3DCS. Innovative morphing algorithms deform the body panels according to the gap and flush tolerance values directly in the VRED scene. Real time A-B comparison is a powerful tool for engineers and managers to swiftly evaluate panel gap dimensions in VR before the first prototype becomes available.
Gap variations and panel deformations are stored directly in the VRED Variantsets with the VR scene for interactive reviews, multi-site collaboration and offline rendering in raytracing quality.
