Seating Buck Base Frame
The seating buck is individually designed and manufactured of aluminum extrusion profiles from Rexroth. Every seating buck is tailor-made to the vehicle dimensions and specific requirements of each customer. Typical dimensions of the base frame are 2.000 mm length and 700 mm in width.
Base Frame on Pallet Feet
The base frame is available on pallet feet for maximum stability. The pallet feet of aluminum extrusion profiles are positioned for lifting the seating buck from all 4 sides with a standard pallet truck to easily be moved around in the design studio.
Base Frame on Jacking Rollers
The base frame is available on jacking rollers for maximum flexibility to be moved around in the design studio. The jacking rollers of Rexroth are designed for high load, easy jacking up by stepping on the jack lever and good stability when jacked up.

The OEM steering wheel will be mounted on the professional force feedback SENSO Drive engine (see peripheral systems). Alternatively the complete OEM steering column can be mounted.
Steering wheel (and if required steering column) need to be supplied by the customer.
Standard 3 DOF Adjustments
Given that all vehicles have x-axis parallel steering columns, the adjustments listed below should be sufficient to cover the requirements:
- Longitudinal (TX) = 200 mm
- Vertical (TZ) = 150 mm
- Pitch (RY) = 25 degrees
Enhanced 5 DOF Adjustments
In case some vehicles have steering columns which are not parallel to the vehicle’s x-axis, two additional degrees of freedom, i.e., in total 5 DOF will be required:
- Longitudinal (TX) = 200 mm
- Lateral (TY) = 100 mm
- Vertical (TZ) = 150 mm
- Pitch (RY) = 25 degrees
- Yaw (RZ) = +/- 5 degrees
Seating Buck Steering Carrier

If the focus of investigation is not on the precise pedal position, usually a single, manually adjusted carrier for throttle and brake pedal combined, with 3 degrees of freedom, will meet the requirements:
- Longitudinal (TX) = 150 mm
- Vertical (TZ) = 150 mm
- Pitch (RY) = 30 degrees
CNC Adjustable Pedals
If the focus of investigation is on the precise driver’s ball-of-foot position for brake, throttle and footrest, a CNC carrier with individual movement for each pedal, leading to the 8 degrees of freedom listed below, will be required:
- Throttle Longitudinal (TX) = 150 mm
- Throttle Vertical (TZ) = 150 mm
- Throttle Pitch (RY) = 30 degrees
- Brake Longitudinal (TX) = 150 mm
- Brake Vertical (TZ) = 150 mm
- Brake Pitch (RY) = 30 degrees
- Foot Rest Longitudinal (TX) = 150 mm
- Foot Rest Pitch (RY) = 30 degrees
Seating Buck Pedals Carrier 2 Seats
The pedals carrier is individually designed for numerically controlled (CNC) or manual adjustment of throttle pedal, brake pedal and foot rest.

SENSO Drive Force Feedback Steering & Pedals
SENSO Drive is an established industry standard for professional force feedback devices on driving simulators. We mount the force feedback steering SD-LC with a maximum torque of 16 Nm and the passive pedals.
The integration of the SENSO steering and pedals with the real-time vehicle dynamics simulation software CarMaker of IPG Automotive is available with our Virtual Test Drive Server
Center Console Module
The center console module allows for correct positioning of the armrest and/or the central touch screen relative to the positioned seat reference point. The armrest needs to be supplied by the customer.
Individually designed for CNC adjustment with 4 degrees of freedom:
- Longitudinal (TX) = 500 mm
- Lateral (TY) = 200 mm
- Vertical (TZ) = 300 mm
- Pitch (RY) = 5 degrees
Street Level Platform
The platform is adjustable in height to match the vertical distance between street level and driver heal point for a realistic experience when getting into the vehicle and when exiting.
The platform is operated by electric drives but by default not computer numerically controlled. Adjustment is possible in increments of 5 mm. The LCD display on the switch indicates the current height. The switch includes a memory function for 4 positions.

The software also features an MQTT client – the evolving standard for the internet of things. This allows for the operation of the seating buck from any 3rd party application or device supporting MQTT.
The software license is perpetual and includes 12 months maintenance.
Ergonomics Plugin for VRED
The Ergonomics Plugin for Autodesk VRED synchronizes the seating buck operation with the virtual reality scene in VRED.
Seat, steering, etc. reference points, travel envelopes and more is imported from an Excel database into VRED. All seating buck adjustments can be operated directly from within VRED.
The software license is perpetual and includes 12 months maintenance.

The Virtual Test Drive software connects SENSO Drive’s steering and pedals with real-time vehicle dynmics simulation software CarMaker of IPG Automotive and the virtual reality software VRED of Autodesk
VTD is the perfect tool for analyzing driving scenarios with the seating buck in the low dynamic range, such as automated parking etc. in virtual reality.
The software license is perpetual and includes 12 months maintenance.
