nVIZ helps customers optimize their Virtual Reality applications by developing tailor-made plugins for Autodesk VRED. Created in close cooperation with leading automotive OEMs, these plugins meet the practical demands of the automotive design process.

VRED and CAVE (Computer Aided Virtual Environment) systems are widely used in the automotive industry for virtual evaluations of new vehicle concepts. The nVIZ Ergonomics Plugin extends VRED with specialized tools for ergonomic analysis. Vehicle models and interior variants can be selected in real time via tablet, while the test driver is automatically positioned correctly in the virtual scene. Steering wheel and seat adjustments are performed intuitively by touch, within ergonomic design limits.

Integrated viewpoint simulation allows users to experience the vehicle from different body perspectives, such as a small female or tall male driver. All required ergonomics data is imported directly from the manufacturer’s database. The nVIZ Ergonomics Plugin enables efficient testing with large numbers of participants and early feedback—well before physical prototypes or clay models are available.

nVIZ Motion Plugin for Autodesk VRED Professional

With a CarMaker license, users can drive the vehicle interactively in a VRED session using the nVIZ seat buck, or define predefined paths for automated driving. Path-based driving requires no additional hardware, as the internal driver model controls the vehicle and follows the route realistically. The plugin also supports loading and replaying existing CarMaker test run results in VRED, saving the motion directly to the VRED timeline. Users can then leverage VRED’s full toolset to define cameras, adjust scene settings, and render high-quality ray-traced movies.

The nVIZ plugin bridges Autodesk VRED and IPG CarMaker, combining photorealistic visualization with physically accurate vehicle dynamics. While VRED is widely used for design visualization and CarMaker for vehicle dynamics and ADAS development, the plugin enables seamless reuse of existing VRED models and CarMaker test data. Any VRED model can be connected to CarMaker via the nVIZ VTD Server, allowing vehicles to be driven in VRED without additional modeling effort.

nVIZ Perceived Quality Plugin for Autodesk VRED Professional

From Dimensional Analysis to Visual Reality

In automotive development, engineers rely on dimensional analysis tools such as 3DCS and Teamcenter Visualization Variation Analysis to evaluate gap and flush conditions. These tools are essential for ensuring production feasibility and perceived quality — but traditionally, their results remain within engineering environments.

Bridging Engineering and Visualization

The nVIZ Perceived Quality Plugin changes that. It allows you to import dimensional analysis data directly from 3DCS or Teamcenter Visualization VSA into Autodesk VRED.

Even more powerful:
Our smart morphing algorithms automatically deform the CAD geometry in the VRED scene according to the calculated gap and flush variations.

This means:
✔️ Realistic visualization of min/max conditions
✔️ Immediate understanding of perceived quality impacts
✔️ Better cross-functional communication between engineering, design, and management

In the videos, you can see the morphing of gap conditions at an exterior and an interior interface directly inside VRED Professional.

From tolerance simulation to immersive visualization — all in one workflow.
